In Victoria if you have an international licence your driving will depend on your visa status. If you hold a temporary visa, you are required to obtain your Victorian driver’s licence and drive for the length of stay with the appropriate documents. Your driver’s licence would have to be translated to English or have international driving permit.

If you hold a permanent visa you can drive with the appropriate documents for 6 months from the date you entered Australia providing the permanent visa was issued before you entered Australia, or 6 months from the date of permanent visa being issued providing the permanent visa was issued whilst you are in Australia. If you would like to continue driving in Victoria you will be required to transfer your licence.
